I am a pharmacist by trade and recently a new mother. I sometimes think of my life as one of those cartoon “dustballs” you see, as I desperately try to balance my career, my side-jobs, my band practices, my family (husband, baby, and dog), and my friends. My life was fairly “by-the-book”, I was a straight-A student throughout school, played in the band, worked on the yearbook, played on some sports teams while working part-time jobs, I graduated high school with a full scholarship to university, where I got my honours BSc. in Biology, with a certificate in Neuroscience, and double-minored in Chemistry and Psychology, as well as teachables in Mathematics and Music, all while being a TA for a dozen undergrad courses and tutoring and lifeguarding/instructing on the side. Once I completed my undergrad (Class of 2010!) I applied to teacher’s college, science communication, and pharmacy school. When I was accepted to all 3 programs, I had a tough decision to make but decided on pharmacy school and there is not a single day I regret my decision. After my first year of school (2011), I started dating my now-husband, in 2012 we adopted our lovable rescue mutt Trigger, and by the beginning of 4th year (2013) we were engaged. I graduated in 2014 and moved in with Randy, while doing my licencing exams and internship. By the end of the year I was officially licensed and in 2015 we were married and I started working at the local hospital. In 2016 I was pregnant and in 2017 I had my amazing daughter Jillian. Sounds pretty textbook to me.
